North Suburban Synagogue Beth El is one of 14 congregations recognized with a grant by Pathways Awareness, a national non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the benefit of early detection and early therapy for children with early motor delays.
The congregation's Jack and Mildred Cohen Religious School plans to fund religious education training and multimedia materials for staff, teachers and parents with the grant. Training will include heightening sensitivity to the different needs, learning styles and disabilities of individual children.
"Beth El is dedicated to providing educational opportunities for all of our children," said Rabbi Michael Schwab. "This grant offers our congregation additional training and resources to meet this goal. We are appreciative of Pathways Awareness for awarding us the grant and encouraging religious institutions to be inclusive."
