Mark D. Weiner, president and CEO of CJE SeniorLife in Chicago, has been elected to serve as a member of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging House of Delegates. The 200-member House of Delegates is AAHSA's governing body and is made up of leaders in the long-term care aging services field.

Sid Singer, director of Informal Education Services at the Community Foundation for Jewish Education of Metropolitan Chicago, has been selected for a new education technology fellowship. He is among the 14 inaugural Jim Joseph Foundation Fellows-Leading Educators Online. The program is sponsored by the California-based Jim Joseph Foundation in partnership with The Lookstein Center at Bar-Ilan University in Israel.

Susan Veronika Adler, a cantor and bar/bat mitzvah tutor at North Suburban Synagogue Beth El in Highland Park, is appearing in the puppet fantasy "Gossamer" produced by Adventure Stage. The play for young adults continues through Dec. 5 at the Vittum Theater in Chicago. For tickets call (773) 342-4141.

A poem by Chaya Gershon, a 9th-grader at Lubavitch Girls High School in Chicago, was selected from thousands of entries as one of the top 10 in her grade division in a contest sponsored by Creative Communication. Chaya is the daughter of Avrohom and Menucha Gershon<>/b>.

Two Chicago-area students were winners in Agudath Israel's national School Choice Essay Contest. Joseph Rubin, a 9th-grader at Fasman Yeshiva High School in Skokie, took first place in the high school division, while Zahava Schuman, a 5th-grade student at Joan Dachs Bais Yaakov Elementary School in Chicago won first place in the elementary school division. Both students will receive $1,000 savings bonds.
